Familiar faces at Sheffield Steeldogs will help Davey Phillips settle in quickly
Phillips is the latest GB international to sign up for the second-tier behind-closed-doors tournament, which gets underway this weekend when the Steeldogs face off against Swindon Wildcats in a home-and-away double header.
Last week Phillips – a regular presence on the Sheffield Steelers’ blue line for the last four years – saw any hope of top-flight hockey this season ended when hopes of securing government funding collapsed.

Hide AdHe has now taken up the roster spot offered by the Steeldogs in order to help him prepare for this year’s World Championships in Riga, Latvia, in May and June.

He will be working alongside several familiar faces, including head coach Greg Wood and player-assistant coach Ben Morgan, as well as old Steelers’ defensive partner, Ben O’Connor.
“I’ve known Woody and Morgs a long time, we used to play for England and GB junior teams together, so we’ve known each other from about 14-15 years old.
