'I really gelled': Fahro Alihodzic on why he is back for more with Sheffield Sharks
Fahro Alihodzic has become the third signing of the summer for Sheffield Sharks and the second of those to be a returning player.
The 36-year-old Bosnian-British forward brought experienced know-how to the Sharks roster when he joined in the second half of last season, helping to steady the ship during an unsettled time for the team.
He averaged 12 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game as Sharks finished an indifferent season in fourth place in Super League Basketball.
A recruitment team of head coach Atiba Lyons and Sarah Backovic are targeting a more defensively-strong team for the forthcoming season, which gets underway in September, and Alihodzic fits the bill, being a dominant presence on both ends of the court.
Alihodzic said: “I’m very happy to be re-joining for next season.
“I really gelled with the coaching staff and everyone at the club as it felt very welcoming when I arrived mid-season in 2025-26.
“I know what I can bring to a team at this level and I’m looking forward to a full season in Sheffield playing in front of our incredible supporters.”
Lyons added: “Fahro made an immediate impact on the team when he joined us last season. He has invaluable experience that can help us as a team both on and off the court and I’m sure he will be a great asset for us for a full season in 2026-27.”
Alihodzic joined last season having spent the first half of the season in Slovakia.
He has previous SLB experience with London Lions and Caledonia Gladiators.
He joins Donovan Clay and Adrian Delph in signing for next season.
