Leeds Knights confident of Sam Dunn taking on lead role in NIHL National
RYAN ALDRIDGE believes he has found the ideal chaperone for his blossoming young defencemen.
With Knights stalwarts Jordan Griffin and Lewis Baldwin still out injured indefinitely, import Matt Staudacher returned home to the USA and teenager Liam Hine now sidelined with an upper-body injury, defensive options are limied for the Leeds Knights head coach.
But in Sam Dunn, the import who replaced Staudacher last week, Aldridge is confident he has a player capable of guiding his younger colleagues - the likes of Sam Cooper, Bow Neely, Bailey Perre and 16-year-olld Jonas Bennett - in the coming weeks and months.
“I think the boys already look up to him and I think he’s going to be really good for us in that respect,” said Aldridge.
“He will be great for our young D. He’s already interested in player development because he does some work back home with younger players with some friends, so hopefully he can help out in a similar way with our young lads.”
