Sheffield Sharks ensure William Lee returns for second Super League Basketball campaign

WILLIAM LEE is looking to make up for lost time after agreeing to return to Sheffield Sharks.

The 31-year-old experienced forward, from Alabama, USA, saw his first season with the Sharks end early through a knee injury, meaning an earlier end to action than he and the team were anticipating.

Despite the blow, he averaged 9.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in his first year playing under head coach Atiba Lyons.

“I’m very happy to be returning to Sheffield for another season,” said Lee. “I really enjoyed my first season but I’m just disappointed it ended in injury for myself, so I’m looking forward to getting started again this season.”

Lee boasts extensive experience across the UK and overseas, having previously played with the Manchester Giants and Leicester Riders as well as sspells in Serbia and Germany.

He played four years for the UAB Blazers in NCAA D1 and had spells in the NBA Summer League as well as the NBA G League before beginning his professional career overseas.

“Will is a great defensive presence and offers a threat both inside and outside the paint on the offensive end,” said head Coach Lyons. “He is a great character and was an excellent fit in the locker room last year, so I’m glad that he’s returning for the new season.

"I’m certain the fans will be excited to see Will return as well and I’m sure they will be singing his name from the bleachers when the season gets underway.”
