In the run up to the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship making its annual pilgrimage to Croft Circuit June 25-26, it’s been all go as this year’s drivers prepare for the maiden competitive outing of the BTCC’s Hybrid Era, as it becomes the first major touring car series in the world to integrate hybrid power into all of its cars.

Irrespective of championship positions arriving at Croft, there is plenty of local interest as Yorkshire and North East drivers will hope for podium positions and tickets are now on sale for fans eager to watch their favourite sport beside the track.

Stars such as three-time reigning champion Ashley Sutton, the “King of Croft” Colin Turkington and Gordon Shedden will all be in action, as will some local heroes.

Newcastle-born Jason Plato is always assured of a warm welcome at Croft and will be hoping for a final happy homecoming as he joins BTC Racing this year where he will be piloting the squad’s third Honda Civic Type R. Jason announced that he will retire from the series at the end of 2022 making his return to Croft this year all the more poignant.

This is Dan Lloyd’s most serious BTCC campaign challenge to date as the Huddersfield-based racer teams up with title contender and two-times Independents Champion Tom Ingram in the squad’s Hyundai i30N machines.

No stranger to the BTCC paddock, Lloyd celebrated four podium visits within the last three rounds of the 2021 season.

Dan Cammish, three-time Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion who hails from Leeds is making a welcome back this year after a year away from driving touring cars mounting a major title push with NAPA Racing UK next season, driving one of the quartet of Ford Focus STs set to hit the track in 2022.

The campaign will mark his first full season in the BTCC since 2020, when he was a four-time race winner and title contender.
