Peloton’s welcome push for wheels of business

Yorkshire’s tourism chief says the Tour de France is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Calderdale firms to boost their business.

The Grand Départ will be screened in 190 countries to 150 million viewers live around the world and Welcome to Yorkshire chief Gary Verity said Calderdale companies should make the most of the event happening on their doorstep.

“I think it’ll be a fantastic boost for Calderdale,” he said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it’s the biggest event that will ever come to this part of Yorkshire.

“I would say to people, don’t miss the opportunity, don’t look back in weeks and months to come and think ‘we should have done that’.

“Now is the moment to put your thoughts and your plans into action.

“If you’re a business, capitalise on it economically because you’ll never get a better opportunity to fill your coffers than this.”
