Sheffield's Jessica Ennis-Hill faces a scrap to defend her Olympic heptathlon title in Rio.

After five events she is placed second, behind Belgium’s young star Nafissatou Thiam, while fellow GB star Katarina Johnson-Thompson is third.

Thiam, 21, holds a narrow lead of just five points after she produced a personal best of 6.58 metres in Saturday’s long jump.

Ennis-Hill jumped 6.34m, while Johnson-Thompson achieved 6.54m - leaving just the javelin and 800m.
