Doncaster 18 Batley Bulldogs 24: Batley snatch late winner as Campbell denies Dons

Winger Johnny Campbell snatched victory for Batley in the last minutes of a closely-fought match in which the lead changed hands five times.

The visitors just about deserved their victory but Doncaster could easily have won the game themselves but for some poor defensive play in the second half.

Batley started better and went ahead in the eighth minute when big second row forward Dan Fleming collected a short pass and twisted his way out of a tackle and over the line.

Tom Hemingway added the points but Doncaster hit back in the 27th minute following a good passing move which led to Dan Cowling putting winger Dennis Tuffour over in the corner.

Lee Waterman had earlier crossed over for a disallowed score and was foiled again by
Gareth Potts following a tremendous breakaway run in the 30th minute.

Doncaster forged ahead on the stroke of half time when Cowling went over in the corner with Stu Sanderson goaling to give them a 10-6 interval lead.

But they were caught napping at the start of the second half when John Davis sent Miles Greenwood darting through a gap to touch down between the posts and Hemingway added the extras.
