Doncaster in surprise exit at Crusaders

Doncaster’s poor early season Championship form transferred to the Challenge Cup as they were hammered by League 1 outfit North Wales Crusaders.

Both the Dons’ discipline and error count led significantly to their downfall.

Equally, though, Crusaders hardly put a foot wrong and, throughout their squad, there was not a performance which could be faulted, although most of the plaudits will go to Rob Massam for his four tries on the day.

After holding an impressive 18-6 lead at the break, Crusaders’ performance in the second period was even better as they put Doncaster to the sword.

Doncaster’s tries from Jack Walton – the second gave the visitors hope in the second half – were not enough as Crusaders, who have started the season well, were too strong on the day.
