Electric Eels wing
Sio achieves dream

PROLIFIC Parramatta Eels winger Ken Sio is confident of replicating his potent form for Hull KR after signing a three-year deal with the East Yorkshire club.

The Sydney-born player, 23, moves to Craven Park at the end of the current campaign.

He has scored 11 tries in just 10 games for Parramatta this term and has recorded 35 in 55 appearances with the NRL outfit.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to come over there and play in Super League,” said Sio, who can also play full-back and centre.

“I didn’t think it would happen until later in my career but the opportunity has come up early and I’m excited to have a crack.

“It’s going to be a different style of footy but I think it will be a more open competition.

“Hopefully I can bring my ability to score tries over to Hull KR and add something to the team.”

Rovers caretaker coach Chris Chester added: “We’ve been looking to add some strike to the side and he is a proven try-scorer who we’re confident will suit both the club and Super League.

“We’re lacking a bit of speed on the edges at the moment and Ken will bring that.”

Castleford Tigers forward Grant Millington is out of their Challenge Cup semi-final with Widnes Vikings, and the next “few weeks”, due to a medial knee ligament injury.

However, the club hope to free-up second-row Weller Hauraki as they are considering an appeal against his two-game ban for reckless use of his knees at Hull on the basis the action was “careless” rather than reckless.

Huddersfield Giants’ in-form hooker Kyle Wood is ruled out until January after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Head coach Paul Anderson said: “I did mine back in 1998.

“And the following year I went on to play for Great Britain and did international tours, so he can rebuild from this.”
