The exciting full-back, who was only playing with the club on a part-time basis, made a brilliant try-scoring debut against Wigan Warriors in June and won man of the match in his first two games.

Son of former Bradford Northern fans’ favourite Roger Simpson, he also scored in his second game, the win over Warrington Wolves and, until recently, kept experienced Ireland international Scott Grix out of the Giants’ side.

“It has been a whirlwind month or so for me making the step into Super League and I’ve now achieved my goal from the start of the year which was to get a full-time deal and stay at the club,” he said.

“I have two years now to make a real impact in what I know will be a team full of great players.

“Everyone has helped me along the way right from my amateur club Moldgreen and then the Giants’ junior coaches so I hope I can do them proud and keep pushing forward.

“I know the task ahead will involve lots of hard work but I’m confident I can challenge for a spot in the back-three.”

Huddersfield head coach Paul Anderson admitted: “Jared deserves the opportunity to stay around longer and go into the top squad with immediate effect.

“Everyone has seen with his displays over the past few weeks in Super League the potential the coaches have known was in him.

“He’s a tremendous example of a youngster who’s taken an opportunity that presented itself to him.”
