York City Knights capture Hull KR's Matty Marsh for life in the Championship

NEWLY-PROMOTED York City Knights have signed Hull KR scrum-half Matty Marsh on a permanent deal for 2019.

Marsh, 23, made a dozen appearances and scored 10 tries while on dual-registration with York this year, helping them to the League 1 title.

He also made seven Super League appearances for the Robins this term having emerged through their academy but now moves on to James Ford’s side ready for life in the Championship.

"I'm really pleased to able to continue working with Matty,” said Ford, about a player who is equally at home at full-back.

“He’s a talented young player who has lots of improvement in him as long as he continues to strive for development.

“I’m delighted in the progress we’re making as a club which again is indicated with a signing of this quality."

Marsh added: "This is the club I wanted to sign for.

“I massively enjoyed my time at the club on DR in 2018 and loved playing with a great set of lads.
