Leeds Rhinos legend Sinfield calms injury fears

Captain Kevin Sinfield is confident his Leeds Rhinos career has not been brought to a premature end.

Sinfield will join Rhinos’ rugby union sister club Yorkshire Carnegie at the end of the current Super League season.

Rhinos have a maximum of three competitive games left and there were fears Sinfield might not play for them again after he suffered a dead leg in last Thursday’s home defeat by Castleford Tigers.

But Sinfield today said he is “99 per cent” sure he will be fit for next week’s play-off semi-final - and he has not ruled himself out of Friday’s final Super-8s fixture at Huddersfield Giants.

“I’ve had something like this before, in a World Club Challenge at Elland Road and I missed the next four games,” Sinfield said.

“It is nowhere near as bad as that and it is just a matter of time.

“I’m in great hands. The medical team here are brilliant and I am 99 per cent sure I’ll be right for the play-off game.

“For this week I may be close, but that call will probably be made on Thursday or even Friday morning.”
