London Skolars 0 Halifax 68: Four-try Worrincy demolishes Skolars

Rob Worrincy returned to his London roots to snaffle four tries as Halifax romped to a second straight Northern Rail Cup win without conceding a point.

Halifax bombed three opportunities on the right before finally making the breakthrough when Sean Penkywicz barrelled over to the left of the posts after nine minutes, Lee Paterson surprisingly kicking the first of five missed conversion attempts.

Ben Black, in for the rested Stanley Gene, lured in Skolars' three-quarters before slipping a pass out for Worrincy to score Fax's second, Paterson's woeful kick typifying a terribly scrappy opening half, blighted by dropped balls and early turnovers.

Fax spent 15 minutes on the back foot before two tries in two minutes by Said Tamghart and Anthony Bowman – both converted by Paterson, to ironic cheers from the large travelling contingent – rapidly followed by a breakaway score by Bob Beswick from the kick-off, saw an 8-0 lead turn into 24-0 at the half-time hooter.

Fax started the second half in far more clinical fashion, Frank Watene plundering a try beside the posts and Worrincy profited from James Haley's fine gallop down the right touchline.

Fax turned on the style to score three more tries and bring up the half-century before the hour mark through Jon Goddard, Haley and Worrincy clinching his hat-trick. Worrincy added a fourth before Penkywicz darted over to make it 60-0 and Beswick got Fax's 13th try on the hooter.
