'Perfect fit': Gold Coast Titans youngster Seth Nikotemo joins Wakefield Trinity

Wakefield Trinity have continued their 2025 recruitment with the signing of Australian youngster Seth Nikotemo.

The 20-year-old back-rower was named in Gold Coast Titans' top 30 squad at the start of 2024 but spent his season playing for Ipswich Jets in the Queensland Cup.

Nikotemo has signed a three-year contract with Trinity ahead of their expected return to Super League next season.

"I'm extremely excited for this new journey," he said.

"It's a massive move for myself being young but I already feel very welcomed by the staff I have spoken with.

"Wakefield seems like the perfect fit for me and I can't wait to meet the boys and get settled into the club."

Nikotemo will join fellow new faces Mike McMeeken, Tom Johnstone and Jake Trueman at Belle Vue at the start of an exciting new era for the club.

Recruitment manager Ste Mills has backed Nikotemo to make waves at the top level.

"Bringing someone like Seth over shows our recruitment philosophy as a club," said Mills.

"We see Seth as being a young, driven player who has a very high ceiling within his development as a player but also as a person.

"A lot of research has gone into the signing of Seth and we fully believe we have a player who can become a standout back-rower in Super League.

"Playing through the origin ranks since a young age, Seth will add some firepower to our back-row stocks. This is an exciting signing for the club."

Daryl Powell's side are preparing for their final game of the regular season at home to Doncaster on Sunday after claiming the League Leaders' Shield with rounds to spare.

Trinity, who will have a week off before hosting a semi-final, must wait until late October for confirmation of their return to Super League via the new grading system.

On the signing of Nikotemo, Wakefield boss Powell said: "We are delighted to add Seth to the squad for the next three seasons.

"He's a high-quality young back-rower with power and punch in his attacking game adding to an uncompromising defensive game.

"After speaking to him, I'm confident he will fit in perfectly with the way we want to play. I'm looking forward to him coming over to both take his game to the next level and add to the high-quality squad we are putting together."
