The club has cancelled their planned training session for today as the reigning Super League champions work through test and trace procedures.

Castleford played St Helens on Sunday afternoon but have confirmed all of their tests have been returned as negative.

Neither side has a fixture scheduled for this weekend, with Wakefield Trinity and Catalans Dragons' Challenge Cup match the only contest to go ahead.

The first cases of Covid-19 in Super League were confirmed last week, when 12 members of staff at Hull FC tested positive for the virus.

Their opponents from their previous outing, Salford Red Devils, had a number of players who were required to self-isolate although Castleford have been informed that none of their players or staff will be required to do the same.

The individual who tested positive at St Helens was not displaying symptoms and will be retested.

"The early results from this week’s routine testing for Covid-19 across the 11 Betfred Super League clubs has included one positive test, for a non-playing member of our staff," read a club statement from St Helens.

"The club has postponed our planned training activity for today (Wednesday), as we work with the RFL on test and trace analysis relating to the relevant individual.

"There will also be a retest of the staff member who has tested positive, but who is not displaying any symptoms – with the possibility of further testing for the squad this week as a precaution.

"Castleford Tigers, who played the Saints on Sunday, have also been informed, although at this stage there is no need for any of their staff to self-isolate under the test and trace procedures agreed for the resumption of Rugby League with Public Health England."
