With the competition currently shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak, there is little chance of the title decider going ahead as scheduled on Saturday, October 10.

Instead, The Yorkshire Evening Post understands one option being considered is to play the Coral Challenge Cup final on that date at Old Trafford, in Manchester, with the Grand Final switched to November 14 at Spurs’ new ground.

The Challenge Cup sixth round was due to take place this weekend and the final is scheduled for Wembley on July 18.

Finding new venues for the two major showpieces would be a huge headache for the sport, but OId Trafford and Tottenham - which has a capacity of 62,303 - are already booked on the relevant dates.

England are due to play Australia in the third and final Ashes Test at Spurs on Saturday, November 14, with a 5.30pm kick-off.

However, with Super League and Australia’s NRL set to continue into the winter, the Test series is likely to be postponed.
