Swinton 18 Halifax 76: Worrincy runs in five tries to destroy Lions
Taking on a Swinton side who had won their previous three home games at the Leigh Sports Village, Halifax shrugged off some recent indifferent form with a 14-try destruction of Gary Chambers’s Lions.
The month of May had seen Karl Harrison’s Halifax toppled from the Kingstone Press Championship table summit thanks to a run of four defeats in five games, and back-to-back reverses in their previous two games against Featherstone and Sheffield.

Halifax head coach Harrison said: “We really needed this result.
“For one reason or another it was a tough May for all the players, but we’ve bounced back in great style against Swinton.
“This isn’t an easy place to come, so to run in so many tries is very satisfying for me personally.
“We’ve got to try and build on this result now.”

They were 40-6 up by half-time thanks to tries from Worrincy (2), Craig Ashall, Anthony Thackeray, Luke Ambler, Tyrer and Wayne Reittie.
After the break Worrincy added another three touchdowns, while Ryan Fieldhouse (2), Tony Tonks and Tyrer also crashed over.
Tyrer completed a worthwhile day for the visitors with nine conversions.
