Garry Lo's first-half hat-trick on his final Sheffield Eagles appearance proved in vain as Toulouse won the Kingstone Press Championship Shield with a rampant 44-14 victory.

The 23-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal at Castleford, scored his treble inside the first 32 minutes to put Sheffield 14-4 ahead after Mark Kheirallah had pulled a try back.

But the French side came roaring back and scored 40 unanswered points as Stanislas Robin, Gavin Marguerite, Rhys Curran, Paul Marcon, Kheirallah, Anthony Marion, Constantine Mika and Tony Maurel all registered tries.

Catalans Dragons produced a second-half transformation to salvage their Super League status, coming from 10-4 down to beat Leigh 26-10 in the Million Pound Game at Leigh Sports Village.

Leigh, relegated after just one season in Super League, had only themselves to blame for letting slip their six-point lead after producing an ill-disciplined second-half display which was punished ruthlessly by Australian scrum-half Luke Walsh with four penalty goals.
