Bradford, with just one fixture remaining at in-form Halifax, cannot finish top of the second-tier now but that is not their goal for 2015.

Promotion is the key and, having played their part in a thrilling game in front of 9,181 fans, they will be confident of their chances of promotion in the forthcoming Qualifiers.

Yesterday was a fine response after slipping up at Sheffield Eagles and Lowes said: “It was a good game and very entertaining. It was a little bit disappointing in the errors we made; Leigh are a good rugby side and if you give them too much field position they’ll challenge you.

“You can’t afford to do that through the Middle Eights against Super League clubs.

“But I thought our effort was fantastic and, with that sort of crowd, these two clubs should be in Super League.”

Ryan Shaw was brilliant at full-back for Bradford and Danny Addy stellar at half-back.

“Ryan thinks he’s on the playground,” said Lowes. “He doesn’t feel pressure, even at training it’s like it’s play-time for him picking balls out of the air.

“We’ve got mixed emotions as we wanted to win; we put ourselves in a good position to do that but a few errors allowed them to score and get back in the game.

“Danny Addy was fantastic again for us. I know he threw an intercept try at the end but that’s part and parcel of the game – dealing with errors.

“And there was certainly more good stuff than bad in there.”
