When asked if he is a fan of the new two leagues of 12 which splits into three divisions of eight after 23 rounds, he said: “I don’t recognise it at all.

“It’s a bit like asking me if I want summer rugby when I’ve only ever played winter rugby.

“I’m not sure. I really don’t know what they’re trying to achieve by it.

“Who knows, it might turn out great but I’m not certain on the concept.

“There’s the initial thing of no one knowing - I don’t think people understand the (current) top eight anyway and now we’re going to put some more in.

“We’re not sure what happens after that. I see it but I’m not sure if it’s going to work.”

On the pitch, Cummins saw his side get an impressive friendly win over Hull FC on Sunday.

After all the recent uncertainty about the club’s future, with Bradford warned they had to make £400,000 in cuts, he admitted: “It’s good to get to the games.

“There was a time in December when we were thinking that might not happen as we could lose four or five players.

“It was good to get to the team photo done today as that makes you feel a little more confident we can keep this group together.

“The lads have trained great and now we’re looking ahead to the start of the Super League season against Castleford.”
