Whitehaven 10 Dewsbury Rams 48: Hurst and Brambani lead Rams' charge

A DOMINIC Brambani-inspired Dewsbury scored a comfortable eight-try win over Whitehaven.

The visitors had already taken the heat out of this clash by beating Leigh the previous week to send their hosts down, and the Cumbrians were without a number of key players after several refused to take a pay cut imposed upon them.

It was prop Keegan Hurst who opened the scoring, charging over from close range. Pat Walker converted.

Then Brambani got his side's second, again converted by Walker, before Haven hit back through Dylan Skee.

But three converted tries in five minutes either side of the break killed the game as a contest. First James Craven went over, then Rob Spicer got the easiest try of his life, when rookie Haven Jay Rossi spilled the ball behind his own line as he tried to return a kick just after the half-time hooter had sounded.

Within a couple of minutes of the restart Adam Robinson went over from close range, again converted by Walker.

Graeme Mattinson scored a try for Haven – converted by Dylan Skee – and the home side made a decent fist of the next 20 minutes. But the very young team was always likely to tire, and the Rams were ruthless in taking advantage, scoring three more converted tries courtesy of Austin Buchanan (64), Hurst (70) and Brambani again on 74.
