Workington 62 Doncaster 0

FORMER Wakefield Trinity and Bradford Bulls star Jarrod Sammut ran the show as already-relegated Doncaster endured another painful defeat.

Gary Thornton’s side lost against Workington for the third time this year as the Australian stand-off tore them to pieces.

Sammut scored a hat-trick of tries and created another three as Doncaster were embarrassed in this Championship Shield fixture.

Brett Carter also grabbed a treble, Workington’s other scores coming from Alex Szostak, Scott Akehurst and Jamie Doran with Carl Forber improving all nine tries.

Doncaster were not aided by the loss of prop Matt Groat to the sin-bin in the first half.

They did forcing three drop-outs before the break but Workington protected their line to go in 28-0 ahead and never eased off in the second period.
