The ex-Rotherham Titans forward, 25, says he has been encouraged by news this week that Leeds will be re-branded as Yorkshire Carnegie next season in a bid to become a sustainable top-flight outfit.

“It is an exciting time to be at the club and for the county as well,” he said, ahead of Sunday’s home game against Moseley.

“This is a thriving rugby county and deserves a team in the Premiership. What the club were planning for the future made my decision easier to stay here.

“What the club is planning for the future made my decision easier to stay here. We have gone well so far this season, losing just four games, three of which we could have won on another day.

“Whilst that is good, we are not getting carried away. We need to stick in the top four and then anything can happen in the play offs.

“It is massive to keep this group of players together. We have seen this season how much it has helped us on the field by keeping the core of the side together.

“It is much easier to integrate four or five rather than 14 or 15 new players in the summer. We are a very tight group and that has shown this season especially in the close games.

“We can score tries from anywhere on the pitch and our backs have been able to show their threats when the forward pack has been dominant in games. It is certainly important to keep this squad together and build for next year and beyond.”
