Titans need to stick together says Jones

GIVEN the severity of their current situation, Rotherham Titans head coach Mark Jones has told his side to buy into the team ethos or they will get 'picked off' by desperate Moseley today.

Following a wretched run of results, the South Yorkshire club are now just seven points above bottom-placed Moseley in the Championship, highlighting the importance of their away fixture this afternoon.

Furthermore, Rotherham’s rivals defeated them twice in the B&I Cup before Christmas to heighten their confidence.

Jones said: “The challenge for us is to make sure we’re really cohesive.

“We have to be the best team on the day; we can’t go out there as individuals as we will get picked off.

“For me it will be about the quality of our team performance and if we deliver that we’ll have a good opportunity to go down there and be really competitive.”

Moseley – who won at Doncaster earlier this season – have also enlisted the help of former Leicester Tigers and England lock Louis Deacon as forwards coach to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.

“He’s clearly made an impact; you could see by the way they performed in Jersey last week that he’s made an immediate difference,” said Jones. “Their scrummaging was very effective, their line out was pretty slick, they drove well and they were up against a very good Jersey pack which everyone in the league is aware of and they performed really well for large parts of that game.”

Rotherham are forced into two changes to the side that lost 36-17 at home to leaders Bristol last week. Winger Michael Keating replaces the suspended Jack Hayes while loosehead Toby Williams starts in place of Robin Hislop who has not recovered in time from a head injury sustained last Saturday.
