Hide AdIt was only their fifth home defeat of the season and Morpeth, who beat them 29-8 earlier in the season, were the better side on the day.
Morpeth went 10-0 up inside the first 10 minutes, only for Pontefract to battle back to take the lead.
A penalty try was converted on 16 minutes by Andy Dean and winger Shane Simpson added a second score, this time unconverted, five minutes later.

Hide AdMorpeth were back in front just before the break when they landed a penalty but the home side hit back early in the second half after a run by Dean created an opening for Jonathan Wylie to score.
Dean's conversion hit the post so when Morpeth went over for an unconverted try it put them into an 18-17 lead.
The single point difference remained until the last five minutes when, with Pontefract down to 14 men after a sin-binning, Morpeth were awarded a penalty which they slotted before a late try ended Pontefract hopes.
