Knottingley kept within a point with a 23-0 home win over injury-ravaged Barnsley.

A hat-trick of penalties by Dave Evans gave Knottingley a 9-0 lead, and Evans also converted second-half tries by prop Steven Berry.

Pocklington, who had a spate of injuries and had used all their substitutes by half-time, lost 16-3 against Doncaster Phoenix.

Phoenix, completing a double over their rivals, went ahead with first-half tries by flanker Nick Barratt and prop Dan Morris, Ben Miller kicking a penalty in each half to a first-half penalty by Nick Bennett for Pocklington.

Bottom club Hessle were left reeling as Ripon ran out 102-0 home winners. Right winger Craig Sykes scored six of Ripon's 16 tries. Fly-half Richard Hooks and centre Sean Nicholson added two apiece, and Hooks also kicked 10 conversions.

Hullensians plunged from third to sixth when they suffered a 13-3 defeat at West Leeds, who went ahead with a penalty by fly-half Richard Bedford, the only score of the first half.

Hull equalised through Dave Andrews, but Bedford added a penalty and converted winger Sam Neave's last-minute try.
