Sluggish Brods turn around fortunes

Old Brodleians fought back from a poor start to secure a bonus-point victory.

Morpeth made a brighter start and racked-up a 10-point lead after just 15 minutes following a well-worked training ground routine from the backs and a penalty.

However, Brodleians rallied and scored an excellent forwards try, rolling a maul from 20 metres out before Luke Scrimshaw touched down, Ollie Ackroyd converting.

That try lifted the hosts’ spirits and they went on to lead at half-time, following a sublime chip and chase by James Marshall from 40 yards.

That advantage was extended by a third try from a rolling maul as Ben Hoyle broke down the blindside to score. Ackroyd added a penalty as Brodleians started to dominate and Liam Scott added the bonus point towards the end when he caught a high ball on the full and charged through to finish.
