Under-strength Leeds produce solid display
It was a solid performance by the Leeds team, who were without several of their top runners.
On the day their fastest man was Luke Craggs, who gained a couple of places on the fourth stage with a time of 14mins 51secs.

Hide AdInternational James Walsh, coming back into action following a planned break from serious training, gained 11 places on the second stage with a time of 15mins 8secs.
Newham and Essex dominated the event and, in the end, were comfortable winners.
Rotherham’s sixth place in the women’s race was their best-ever performance in the popular event.
Jade Allen finished 14th in a very competitive opening stage clocking 12mins 21secs.

Hide AdThe same time by Steph Burns saw her gain six places on the second stage with Annabelle Grady (12.28) holding eighth place for Rotherham on stage three.
A fine run by Jenny Blizard – clocking 12mins 9secs – the fastest of the Rotherham quartet, gained another two places.
To emphasise their depth, Rotherham placed their B team 11th. The race was won by Aldershot ,who overhauled Birchfield on the last leg.
The Clumber Park course, a hastily-arranged replacement due to the unavailablity Sutton Park, proved to be an excellent venue.
