Yorkshire golf: Andy Crawford bridges 10-year gap to claim Bridlington crown again

BRIDLINGTON'S Andy Crawford has become the club's champion for the second time after a 10-year gap.

The 2006 title-winner repeated the feat to claim the Hutton Bowl Trophy with some very solid golf.

He shot rounds of 74 76 to keep Dan Hudson at bay. 2014 champion Hudson had held a slender lead after 27 holes, but a solid level-par inward nine by Crawford earned him the championship.

Huddersfield Rabbit Captain's Day was won by 35-handicapper Jane Ali with a superb 45pts.

She had net birdies at holes three, four, seven and nine plus a net eagle at the 292-yard par-4 sixth to total 24pts at the turn.

She began the run for home with three consecutive net birdies and added another at the last to be the overall winner on Ian Hill's big day.

Five-handicapper Luke Williamson won Division One with 41pts.

He had five birdies - two of them gross - on the front nine and one net and one gross birdie on the inward nine, the latter at the last.

Eleven-handicapper Adrian Dean won Division Two with 40pts.

He had six birdies, two of them gross, including one at the last.

Fiona Miller, playing off 24, scooped the honours in Division Three with 41pts. She had four net birdies plus a net eagle at the 424-yard 14th.

Winner in The Bradford's Cairess Plate First Division category was junior team player Tom Pullen, edging out Jeremy Tetley who shot a level-par 71. Andrew Cooper won the Second Division.

Meltham's Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Tri-Am saw Ben Corbett, Dave Corbett and Tom Birkhead triumph.

They totalled 81pts and won on a back-nine count back from Tom Irving, Ronan Bruce and Mick Johnstone .

Mick Maude, Rich Clark and Gareth Mcmahon placed third on 80 pts.

Wakefield's Captain's Day first prize went to Barry Brindley and Karl Riley. Second were Tom Liffey and Luke Taylor, with Ian Baker and Bob Chance third.

The ladies' prize winner was June Kellie and Dan Bradbury prevailed in the juniors' category.

Nearest the pin was Andrew Bragg and the straightest drive was produced by Lynn Marsh.

Captain David Uttley said that funds raised for his nominated charity, the British Heart Foundation, stood at over £850.
