Colbeck, who will line up for Bradford against Harrogate, produced a run of four consecutive birdies in his final holes at Bingley St Ives to take the title.

First-round leader Terry Brushwood, playing on his home course, looked set to lift the crown despite dropping three shots in the first six holes of his second round.

But Colbeck carded birdies at holes 13 to 16 and won by a shot with a closing 70 and a four-under-par aggregate of 138.

He had produced a 68 in the morning to Brushwood's 67, getting his round off to a flying start with an eagle at the 486-yard par-5 second.

He gave a shot back at the sixth, but had three birdies in a row around the turn from the eighth.

Another followed at the 15th, but when he bogeyed 16 and 17 he handed the lunch-time initiative to Brushwood.

The Bingley St Ives man had included two eagles in his first-round four-under-par 67 - at the 491-yard ninth and 486-yard 14th, both par-5s - and also had three birdies and three bogeys.

Colbeck made a first start in pursuit of Brushwood, birdieing the first hole of his second round, but then suffered four bogeys in five holes from the third.

Brushwood was three over for six holes in the afternoon himself, but a birdie at the ninth had him two clear.

However, although he returned home in one under thanks to eight pars and a birdie at the 15th, Colbeck's closing birdie burst gave him an inward nine of 31 and the title.
