Lindrick's Greg Denton and Matthew Lees (Woolley Park) are two of six changes made to the line-up that beat Derbyshire 16-2 at Scarborough North Cliff .

The six looking to be involved in a second win in eight days for the Northern Counties champions will be Will Whiteoak (Shipley), Daniel Brown (Bedale), Bailey Gill (Lindrick), Martin Brown (Pike Hills), Luke Robinson (Hornsea) and Jack Lampkin (Ilkley).

Last Saturday Gill was one of four teenagers - the others being Barclay Brown (Hallamshire), Nathan Fell (Lindrick) and James Cass (Fulford) - who served immediate notice that they can help cover the gaps caused by the departure of Nick Marsh (Huddersfield), Joe Dean (Lindrick) and Julian Taylor (Fulford), among others, to the professional ranks.

Marsh and Dean won the English men's championship in 2014 and 2015 respectively while Taylor lifted the county amateur title two years ago.

Berry is also likely to be without Meltham's Jamie Bower - Yorkshire's highest-placed English amateur golfer - for parts of the season due to the current White Rose champion being a member of England's men's squad.

So, too, Lindrick's Jonathan Thomson, currently on his way back after a back injury, as he is also an England squad player.

But Yorkshire's captain is confident that a mixture of experience and exciting fresh talent can lead to another successful season for the county.

"This year Phil Woodcock, the junior organiser, will be involved more with us because we have got a lot of juniors around the team," said Berry.

"He will be giving us more information about the boys who are coming through as we are trying to close the gap between the boys' and the senior levels to try to smooth the transition.

"These young kids who are coming through all know that they have a chance to play, and it is really good for me because it is pushing a few of the older lads as well."

Rotherham's Matt Evans is back in the amateur sphere after a spell as a professional, and Berry welcomes his presence.

"I am hoping to get him involved a lot this year because he is a very solid player with great experience," said Yorkshire's captain.

"Obviously I can't see us having Jamie Bower much this year, but he is the type of guy who, if he is back home and available, he will play."
