Yorkshire golf: Rochelle Morris heads county championship qualifiers at Huddersfield GC

CURTIS Cup player Rochelle Morris, of Woodsome Hall GC, shot a second-round 68 to lead qualifying for the match play stage of the Yorkshire ladies amateur championship at Huddersfield GC.

She had opened with a 73 and her 141 aggregate was three fewer than Megan Garland (Selby GC), who shot 72 72.

Defending champion Megan Lockett, of the host club at Fixby, qualified third (71 75).

Morris will play Georgina Hirst (Flamborough Head GC) in the opening last-16 tie, teeing off at 8.30 this morning.

Hessle GC sisters Abigail and Jessica Smee face Lockett and last year’s runner-up Emma Brown (Malton & Norton GC) respectively.
