England beat all three of their competitors in the round-robin event by the same score - 7-2.

Whiteoak and his foursomes partner, Durham's Andrew Wilson, finished with a record of one win, one half and a loss after going down to Spain's Jordi Panes and Alex del Rey in the lead match, 4&2.

But the Yorkshire county player made amends by beating del Rey one up in the singles, which England took 5-1 to repeat the 7-2 scoreline in their prior wins over Finland and Germany.

Whiteoak finished with three and a half points having also won two of his three singles encounters.

His only afternoon loss came against Germany on Thursday when his opponent, David Rauch, hit him with a run of five birdies in six holes after Whiteoak had led by two holes.
