Yorkshire golf: West Bradford GC's ladies and seniors mixed event keenly contested

WEST BRADFORD GC's annual ladies and seniors mixed event was won by Pat Sutcliffe, Carol Craven, Ian Lightbody and Colin Hayhurst.

The format was fourball better ball with the best lady's and gent's score counting.

Second place, two points distant, went to Maureen Williams, Pam Sprint, Terry Guest and Ian Peirson.

They required count back to take runner-up spot ahead of Eileen Dovener, Carole Guest, Bill Green and Pete Leskovac.

Prize presentation to the top two teams was made by Paul Winter, seniors ' captain, along with lady captains Denise Dack and Connie Binsley.

Mark Hodson has become Birley Wood GC's Sunday Winter League champion for the second time.

He then backed it up by winning the Top 8 play-off as well.

Don Dye is the new Wednesday Winter League title holder while Eddie Crapper won Top 12 play-off.

The Stableford Cup was won by Mick Johnson, whose 42pts left him four clear of runner-up Steven Fletcher. He needed count back to take second place ahead of Andrew Smedley.

The Saturday medal was won by Nigel Broadley (74-9-65), one shot clear of Paul Baldwin (87-21-66). Carlton Hollis (78-11-67) placed third.

Oliver Harrison triumphed in the junior Saturday medal with a superb net 61 off 20.

Lewis Harrison (74-10-64) came in second and Harry Emmingham (76-10-66) was third.

Robin Elias has been elected the 2016-17 President of the Harrogate & District Union of Golf Clubs.

Elias, a member of Masham GC, was President of Harrogate Area Rabbits' Association in 2004, and appointed club captain in 2006.

He has served as assistant competition secretary for the Harrogate Union since 2007.

Flamborough Head GC's April mid-month medal was won by 16-handicapper Jason Miller with a net 73.

He finished just one shot clear of both runner-up Dave Copley, who plays off 17, and third-placed 12-handicapper Richard Elliott.
