Yorkshire golf: West Bradford trio's magnificent seven helps seal Sue Ryder Salver success

WEST Bradford's Mark Ryan, Glen Burrage and Craig Shaw won the Sue Ryder Salver with a 77-point total at Skipton.

The trio only managed two points at the firs hole, but a birdie four for a net eagle at the 463-yard par-5 second from Shaw kick-started their push for the trophy.

They also managed only two points at the fourth, but then came a string of four five-pointers in the space of six holes, Ryan carding four pars for net birdies.

Two more five-pointers would follow towards the end of their round - at the 15th and 17th - and Burrage produced a gross birdie at the 226-yard par-3 12th to ensure they got a regulation four points at that hole.

But it was the seven points accumulated at the 187-yard par-3 16th that proved crucial and helped see off the challenge of the eventual runners-up, Clayton's Mark Wilber, Chris Foster and Carol Bray.

Ryan had a two for a net eagle hole in one and Shaw a par for a net birdie, giving them a two-point winning margin over Wilber, Foster and Bray.

They in turn were one point ahead of third-placed Woodhall Hills trio, Mark Lawman, Trevor Shaw and Terry Green.
