Yorkshire golf: White Rose's Barclay Brown and Charlie Daughtrey get England call

YORKSHIRE'S Barclay Brown and Charlie Daughtrey have been included in an eight-strong England team for the annual Under-16 international against Wales.

Hallamshire's Brown and Rotherham's Daughtrey will compete at Newport on August 16-17.

Former Sheffield Plate winner Brown was 11th in the Peter McEvoy Trophy and represented England in the Junior Open.

Daughtrey shared fifth place in the McGregor Trophy and was 10th in the Northern Boys’ county qualifying tournament.

The match with Wales is the first of an annual series of three against the other Home countries. England won all three last year.

Reid Trophy winner Conor Gough (Stoke Park) is also in the side, along with Dominic Clemons (Gog Magog), Matthew Freeman (Worksop), Charlie Hilton (Ifield), Hugo Kedzlie (Spalding) and Charlie Salter (Northamptonshire County).
