Yorkshire's Gale achieves his finest innings yet

YORKSHIRE will be looking to turn the screw on the second afternoon of their County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

The visitors lead the First Division table-toppers by 160 runs at the lunch interval as they seek to enhance their own title ambitions.

After play started 45 minutes late due to heavy rain, Yorkshire's first innings lasted only another 13 balls as they extended their first innings from 260-8 overnight to 264 all out.

Andrew Gale scored the boundary he required to reach 151 and thereby go past his previous career-best of 150 against Surrey at the Oval in 2008.

But Oliver Hannon-Dalby and Championship debutant Moin Ashraf perished for ducks, the former lbw to Andre Adams and the latter caught at third slip off the same bowler, who claimed 6-82.

Nottinghamshire reached 45-0 in reply, with Alex Hales unbeaten on 19 and Paul Franks undefeated on 12.
