Ten groups will be taking part, arriving from Belgium, Spain, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, offering a wide diversity of shape and size from the three Dutch instrumentalists of The Counterparts, to the eight vocalists in the UK entry, Fieri Consort, a much experienced ensemble now in their fifth year together.

Very much in pole position is the French group, Les Contre-Sujets, who have this year been enjoying a European Union funded York residency as part of the ‘Emerging Ensembles’ project. Also highly rated are their compatriots, Le Palais des Songes, arriving in the middle of a busy concert year.

To become acquainted with the acoustics of Saint Margaret’s Church, you can catch up with all the competitors in two full day concerts when they will perform programmes of their own varied choice (July 13 and 14).

Book seats now for the final on July 15, as this is usually a sold out event.
