Let it rock with Harrogate's Omega Era

The Omega Era are joined on stage at Monteys in Harrogate by a member of Harrogate Roller Derby team.

Led by Jonny Skinner, an experienced Harrogate musician and familiar face over the past ten years or so, The Omega Era will be playing Fibbers in a double bill with Hello Operator.

The latter are working currently with legendary David Bowie producer Tony Visconti in his Sky Arts TV show and are set to appear alongside the likes of Bob Dylan.

The Omega Era, meanwhile, have been given a push recently when it comes to securing plumb support slots to great bands thanks to the help of Scruff of The Neck Records, a label responsible for acts like Glass Caves, who were nominated recently in the Mercury Prize Awards.

The Omega Era, which consists of Jonny Skinner, Gav Ramsay, Ryan Jones and James Dye, are regulars at Homefire Studios in Harrogate and are known for their dedication to ‘old skool rock’ - killer guitar solos, massive choruses and melodic verses.

Jonny Skinner, second guiatrist as well aslead singer, said: “We believe in ‘Rock and Roll’, we believe that rock isn’t dead and never will be and we are going to make damn sure you know it isn’t!”

Part Britrock, part American rock, The Omega Era’s debut EP, Alpha, released in June 2015, received a strong review in this newspaper.

Never ones to put on a quiet show, at the band’s recent appearance at Monteys Rock Cafe in Harrogate, they invited members of The Harrogate Roller Derby team on stage!

Influenced by the likes of Foo Fighters, Funeral for a Friend, Jimmy Eat World and Rage Against The Machine, Omega Era are not a band to go quietly into the dark night.
