Leeds’ own 60-piece Orchestra of Opera North will take the hits up a gear with 80s Classical backing vocalists performing other crowd-pleasing favourites.

Hits given new symphonic makeovers will include Kim Wild's Kids in America and You Keep Me Hangin' On, Belinda Carlisle's Heaven is a Place on Earth and Johnny Hates Jazz hits Shattered Dreams and I Don’t Wanna Be A Hero.

Scottish duo Hue and Cry are best know for Labour of Love and Looking for Linda while Denise Pearson will perform System Addict and Rain or Shine for the first time with a live orchestra.

80s Classical is part of outdoor concerts organised in partnership between Leeds City Council and Opera North, forming one of the key cultural highlights of the annual Millennium Summer Series programme.

Club Classical Anthems, featuring Yorkshire's own multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer and DJ John Newman together with 90s dance icon Ultra Nate and other special guests play Saturday, July 23.
