Battle of Britain memorial flypast to grace skies above Tractor Fest next weekend

One of the country’s most iconic planes will be flying over a popular festival next weeked, its organisers have confirmed.

Tractor Fest, which takes place at Newby Hall on June 6 and 7, will see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight takes to the skies above the festival.

Organisers said the flight means either a Spitfire or Hurricane will fly over the show at around 1.15pm on Saturday, June 6, while the following day will see a Douglas C47 Dakota aircraft cross the skies at around 3.15pm.

The Dakota was widely used by the Allies during the Second World War, playing an essential role in dropping paratroops on the eve of D-Day, as well as missions to evacuate casualties and resupply forces.
