Current data suggests that although hospital admissions are rising in some parts of the country affected by the Indian variant, overall admissions remain broadly flat. Data released by Public Health England shows the areas of Yorkshire where the variant has been detected, and the number of confirmed cases in that area. The data is up to date as of May 27.
5. Hull
Just five people have been recorded as having the Indian variant in Hull.
6. Calderdale
There are also five cases in Calderdale, which covers Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden (pictured) as well as other areas.
7. Sheffield
Despite being one of the biggest cities in Yorkshire, Sheffield also has five new cases of the variant.
8. Barnsley
Barnsley was listed as having fewer than five new cases, as Public Health England doesn't disclose the exact numbers for the areas with a small number of new cases.
