See inside a beach hut at Open Day and discover what makes it home-from-home for fun family adventures

Once you own your own beach hut, every weekend, holiday and even week-day evenings can offer the chance to make family memories. These Scarborough owners explain what makes them so special – and you can see for yourself at the Open Day at North Bay on Saturday 30th March.

While the rest of us are starting to think about planning our summer holidays, the owners of beach huts on Scarborough’s  beautiful and unspoilt North Bay have already notched up plenty of beach adventures since the start of 2024.

Simon and Katy rented a beach chalet annually after moving to Scarborough seven years ago but once one became available, bought their own at the end of last year. Katy explains:

“The chalet is our home-from-home holiday. We live about a ten-minute walk from the beach and chalets, which is ideal with two young children. We can even walk down there after school!

“We visit as often as possible, and not just in the warmer months, there is no such thing as bad weather! It has become a family tradition to spend Boxing Day morning at the chalet having breakfast (or leftover turkey sandwiches) and a walk on the beach.

"We see it as a fantastic family investment. Our children get to grow up making memories at the beach and it is something we can pass on to them and their children in the future. When our eldest daughter left hospital in 2022 following treatment for leukaemia, we knew we had a long road to recovery and having a fully-equipped chalet is wonderful for us to spend family time together. There are showers and toilet facilities nearby, and the local shops and restaurants have everything you could possibly need.

It’s only March and we’ve already had plenty of beach adventures at the chalet this year and we’re looking forward to many more for years to come!”

Andrew’s story

Meanwhile, Andrew lives a mile away and visits his chalet every day with his family and his dogs, Bear and Ash.  He loves the sense of community down at the chalets.

He says: “We rented a chalet both seasonally and weekly for some years. We had always wanted to buy one so when the opportunity arose, we were amongst the first to purchase.”

Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

If you have ever dreamt of owning your very own beachfront property, now is your chance to turn that dream into reality as a handful of picturesque beach chalets have become available.

The stunning chalets are on the promenade of Scarborough’s magnificent North Bay which has won the European Blue Flag status for clean beaches, lifeguards and facilities including showers and toilets.

Your own personal beach hut would include running water, electricity and a kitchenette – and comes equipped with all the essentials including a kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge, crockery and cutlery. There are also, of course, deckchairs to sit outside and watch your family at play.

The on-site family-run Chalet Café makes catering easy. To keep the whole family entertained, there are lots of activities nearby, including crazy golf, an historic water chute and vintage fairground rides, oriental-themed Peasholm Park, North Bay Railway steam train and the Sea Life centre. And Scarborough Open Air Theatre concerts host bands and acts throughout the summer.

An on-site management team is on hand daily to ensure your enjoyment and the site is covered by 24hr CCTV, with remote monitoring for safety and security. A letting, management, handover and maintenance service is available if you want to maximise your investment, with a strong demand for daily and weekly lettings.
