Specsavers in Driffield: New business partners offer seven days a week eye and hearing care

Two local eye specialists have taken over the Specsavers branch in Driffield, offering an all-round eyecare and hearing care service.

When the chance to buy their local branch of Specsavers came up, Yorkshire business partners Shaun Stephenson and James Ellison were delighted with the chance to work in their own community.

The pair have extensive experience – James is a dispensing optician and retail director, and Shaun, the clinical director, is specialist optometrist with a background in the NHS, where he gained specialist qualifications in therapeutic prescribing, glaucoma and medical retina, along with experience in managing glaucoma, macular degeneration and paediatric cases.

They offer seven days a week service to the community in Driffield, including eye tests, Contact Lenses, spectacle dispensing from top designers to value frames and hearing aids with free initial hearing checks.

The chance to take over the popular branch came when the current owner sold up and emigrated to Canada, where they are busy launching another Specsavers branch.

James is already a familiar face in the Specsavers world, having previously been retail director at the Scarborough store. Shaun has a more clinical background, and worked in a number of specialist clinics for the NHS at Hull Royal, Scarborough and Bridlington eye clinics. Between them, they have a wealth of experience in eye and hearing care.

Both partners are local. with Shaun coming from an East Yorkshire farming family and James residing in Nafferton; they are delighted to be helping out their local community by offering flexible appointments and quality sight care on every day of the week, to help fit around busy lives.

James said: “We are extremely excited to have formed this new partnership which we are sure will be a success. Training and development are very important for us and it’s something we want to focus on for our teams.

“Having the best people providing the best care for our patients builds the core ethos of the team here at Driffield Specsavers.
