Doncaster prisoner to stay behind bars an extra 12 months after threatening inmate with weapon

A Doncaster prisoner has had his stay in jail extended by 12 months after threatening another inmate with a weapon.

Thomas West, 23, from the Rossington area, is currently serving a two-years, four-month sentence at HMP Doncaster for burglary.

He appeared at Sheffield Crown Court today for sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of a bladed article at an earlier hearing.

West was sentenced to 12 months in relation to an incident in November last year where he threatened another prisoner with a weapon. The other inmate was not injured during the incident.

PC Emma Taylorson, from the Prison Investigation Team, said: “West behaved in an extremely violent manner during this incident and deserves to have his time in prison extended.

“The Prison Investigation Team are committed to working alongside the prisons in South Yorkshire to identify criminal behaviour and ensure those involved in it are brought before the courts again.”
