Holmfirth man in court over ‘glassing’ of dancer
Andrew Shires was in the dock today charged with causing grevious bodily harm with intent to Chloe Knapton, who was left with pieces of glass embedded in her face and neck following an attack last month.
Shires, 37, from Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, spoke only to confirm his name as he sat emotionless in a red t-shirt and jogging bottoms.

Hide AdAnastasis Tasou, for Shires, told the court there was to be no indication of plea.
Nigel Wray, prosecutor for the case, told the Recorder of Leeds Miss Knapton “suffered serious injuries” in the attack, which was allegedly inflicted by Shires in Holmfirth.
The case was adjourned until July, when the defendant is due to appear to enter his plea.
The victim was not present in court, although Shires appeared accompanied by an elderly gentlemen, thought to be his father, who sat in the public gallery for the short hearing.
