Why Yorkshire is the ideal place to celebrate captain Jean-Luc Picard - The Yorkshire Post says

It’s not often that a region can lay claim to Jean-Luc Picard but then again Yorkshire isn’t just any old region.

Whether you’re a Star Trek fan or not, Sir Patrick Stewart is an endearing personality. And despite his fame, Mirfield’s favourite son has always maintained ties to the region.

He served as Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield between 2004 and 2015, before being appointed Emeritus Chancellor.

It is fitting that after all these years as a successful thesp, Sir Patrick’s career should be celebrated with a personal collection of memorabilia at the university’s Heritage Quay site.

The fact that it includes not only Sir Patrick’s own personal belongings but half the collection is also curated by a New York fan club.

The hope is that the archive will inspire other would-be actors and who better for them to look up to than the captain of the starship USS Enterprise.
