Bradford City v Gillingham: Taylor lures old England star to Valley Parade

ONE-time England international Lee Hendrie has joined Bradford City on a short-term deal and will make his debut today at Valley Parade.

The former Aston Villa and Sheffield United midfielder, who is the cousin of Bradford legend John Hendrie, was without a club after being released by Derby County in the summer.

He trained with the club for the first time yesterday and has worked with manager Peter Taylor at England under-21 level.

Taylor hopes the arrival of the 33-year-old will help revive his side who have won only one of their first six league games.

Taylor was also hoping to sign a striker ahead of today's game with Gillingham but talks with one player from a League One club stalled. Nigerian-born striker Chib Chilaka was offered a short-term deal after impressing on trial and may be on the bench.

Teenage goalkeeper Chris Elliott is joining Harrogate Railway Athletic on loan.
