Steve Waddington, 42, a Doncaster Rovers fan from York gives his half-term report.

Verdict: It’s Fergie time! Rovers fans are full of optimism again following Darren Ferguson’s appointment and upturn in form. He has instilled belief and a change of system with more energy in midfield, with the strikers more confident. Woefully shot-shy early in the season, with an aging team playing sideways football, the new energy, ability to score and home form has brought improvement.

Where this season has gone right/wrong: Ferguson has given us a new lease of life.

Best moment: Andy Williams’ 95th-minute winner v Crewe.

Low moment: The woeful defeat at Peterborough, where we got battered 4-0. It could have easily been double that.

Best and worst opposition teams: Peterborough were the best, Colchester; the worst.

What needs to be done in the transfer window: Rovers definitely need a new dominant centre half and also a new striker to compliment what we have already got.

Predicted finish: 9th.
